Company background

Mudhut was founded in 2005 by Andrea Cockerton, an entrepreneur with significant experience in the entrepreneurial and investment communities. In 1999, Andrea had joined as one of the initial team of VBN, the Cambridge-based software dot com that was a precursor to the networking brands of Facebook & LinkedIn. After the highs lows and slow recovery following the crash, Andrea then moved to be the director of one of the UK’s original and leading business angel networks. It was here that she saw again and again that even the brightest minds - whether they be investors, entrepreneurs or seasoned, corporate professionals - frequently failed to make their point when under pressure.

The idea and thinking behind Mudhut was born.

Five years on, Mudhut is still based in Cambridge but draws clients from across the UK and into Europe, working with a broad range of sectors including the technology sector (internet, software, telecoms, bio, engineering, nano, clean), law, academia, not-for-profit and social enteprise, public sector and the arts.

Andrea is also the co-founder of Brick Handbag, a start-up in an entirely different field, providing intelligent self defence training for women.
